Davis & Jackson’s 1st Birthday Party ~ 3/19/11

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVIS AND JACKSON!!!

This year has flown by and the boys have grown up right before our eyes.  It’s amazing.  The party was a Circus Theme with games, peanuts, popcorn, balloons, hotdogs, and lemonade.  The weather was really nice.  There were threats of thunderstorms, but no sign of them today.

Amber made the cupcakes and the cutout circus animals on top of the cupcakes.  Both were delicious.  Of course the one with the D on top is for Davis and the J was for Jackson.

Each child got an animal puppet to take home.

Amber had children’s colorful sand pails full of peanuts on each table and popcorn boxes with kettle corn in them for everyone to take home.

The menu was hotdogs, chips with chili cheese sauce, pasta salad, fresh strawberries, grapes and pineapple tossed together, lemonade, and of course the all-important sweet tea.

When they gave the boys their cupcakes I’m not sure they knew what to do with them.

Davis took his cookie off first and ate some of it, then he put one finger in the frosting every once in a while to eat some. Very neat and tidy.  He finally started playing with it and grabbing big chunks of cupcake and throwing it off the tray.

Jackson on the other hand took his cookie off, then he went for the cupcake and demolished it.  What a mess!  He loved it.

Noah is helping Davis try out the new earth mover the boys got from the Cates.  All the little kids took turns trying it out also.  A very popular toy.

The back yard was a big hit with the kids.

Fuller, Brighter Full Moon ~ March 19, 2011

Emily called to tell me that the moon tonight would be 14% bigger and 30% brighter than it has been in 20 years so I went out to see it.  The picture I took does not show it very well, but it sure was bigger and it was really much brighter than normal.  You can also see the moon next to the outline of my house.  Thank you Emily that was very interesting to see!Moon

Amaryllis ~ March 10, 2011

I began to water the bulb the day after Christmas and it opened up completely on March 10th.  I have really enjoyed watching it grow and bloom.  I was surprised that it bloomed so much.  Now I have to read up on what to do with it when it starts to fade so it can bloom next year or whenever it’s suppose to.

Asheboro Zoo and Wildlife Park’s Flora & Fauna

These pictures are just a few of the gorgeous plants and exotic birds that we saw on the grounds and in the two very large indoor gardens.

Asheboro Zoo 022

Don’t you just love that smile.

Asheboro Zoo 021

We used to see flamingos at Cypress Gardens (a beautiful and famous park with a large lake where they used to have ski boats towing women doing all sorts of tricks on skies) and also at the Hialeah Horse Racing Track in Florida.  We never went into the race track, but when we drove by we could see the gardens and Flamingos through the hedges.  I always looked in and wanted to go in.

Asheboro Zoo 040

These blooms were just beginning to pop out in early March.

 Asheboro Zoo 023

Abby loved the red birds. They were easy to spot

Asheboro Zoo 024

I can’t remember the name of these plants, but I think they have very beautiful blooms

Asheboro Zoo 025

This is the bird that Davis was excited about seeing.  He or she was 3 feet long and it’s chest is purple.

Asheboro Zoo 028

I couldn’t find out the name of this plant.  Amber and I thought it had beautiful buttercup-looking blossoms on it.

Asheboro Zoo 030

These are banana plants and they can get huge.  They remind me so much of Florida when I was young.  Those bananas tasted so good.

Asheboro Zoo and Wildlife Park~ March 5, 2011

The day we went it was suppose to rain, but we decided to go anyway.  It turned out to be the best weather ever for all the walking we had to do.  It was just the right temperature and it never did rain until we got home.

Asheboro Zoo 004

This park is huge and reminds me of the one in San Diego where you ride the tram.  Abby loved the giraffes.

Asheboro Zoo 008

They had several of these ape sculptures and they interested Davis.

Asheboro Zoo 011

Obviously they interested Amber as well.

Asheboro Zoo 013

Dustin helped Abby on a lot of the animal sculptures that are all over the park.

Asheboro Zoo 027

There was a large purple exotic bird and when Davis spotted it he got excited.

Asheboro Zoo 029

The Crew in one of the indoor gardens.  The flowers and birds in there were unbelievable.

Asheboro Zoo 034

The kids all love to sit in the tracking chopper near the Elephants.

 Asheboro Zoo 035

Jackson was suppose to take his nap on the way like Davis did, but he didn’t so he ended up sleeping through a lot of the exhibits.

Asheboro Zoo 043

Abby is showing me where the elephants are.  She spotted everyone of them.

Asheboro Zoo 051

This is the play area with foam padding instead of pebble bark.  We had the hardest time getting Abby away from the slide once she figured how to get up there and then down the slide by herself.

Asheboro Zoo 054

She found a friend and they kept on going down the slide together.  She had so much fun and she watch the other girl go down on her tummy so she had to do it.

Davis Michael Keath ~ March 4, 2011

Isn’t that the most precious thing you ever saw.

I couldn’t resist taking this picture this morning when I was watching the boys while Abby and Amber went to a production of Charlotte’s Web put on by the Auxiliary Women’s Club of Lexington. Jackson was crying so I had to go in and find his passe he had dropped on the floor. It's amazing that Davis could sleep through all of that. I guess they have gotten used to the noises of the other one.
