VBS ~ July 2014

“Faith Expedition” was the theme for this year’s VBS where they traveled to different times in the bible and different lands.

What’s Vacation Bible School without puppets?

IMG_1480

Davis watching the puppets during the last night’s program.  I couldn’t get shots of Jackson, a teacher was in front of him.

Davis doing hand motions to the songs.

IMG_1491

Both Jackson and Davis kept looking around at the other kids singing more than singing themselves.  Jackson is in the orange shirt and Davis is in the red shirt on the front row, and Abby is in the pink shirt in the second row.

IMG_1493

Abby on the other hand loves to sing.  She now has 4 teeth missing in front.

IMG_1499

After the program everyone goes outside for games, the big slide, ice cream with all the toppings, and cotton candy.   Jackson and Davis waiting in line to go down the big slide.

IMG_1503

This is Davis going down the slide and I can’t tell you how many times all three of the kids went down this thing.

IMG_1504

Jackson going down.

Davis pulling way back to get his water balloon to go up high.   And it really did!  He’s been watching the older kids.  The perfect photo shot until the baby walked in front of my camera.

This is the 2nd year that Amber, Dustin and I worked in the craft area for the 4th – 6th grade kids.  We have so much fun with them.   The boys are all over Dustin and he loves it.

Picnic and a Hike ~ 4/25/14

I was watching the kids for the day and it was such a nice spring day and we didn’t want to stay inside, so we decided to go for a hike and have a picnic.

IMG_0894

Everyone packed their own lunch bag and we set out.  We went all around the whole perimeter of our two properties looking for “special” rocks and other stuff.

IMG_0895

It didn’t take them long before they were ready to bust out the food.  So we found a nice green plushy place on the front lawn.

IMG_0896

Peanut butter sandwiches, string cheese, Doritos, Lays potato chips, juice boxes, chocolate milk,

IMG_0897

bananas, strawberries,

IMG_0898

and of course what every picnic should have, chocolate covered donuts.

IMG_0900

Getting outdoors is a great way to get kids to eat their lunch and . . .

IMG_0901

get a little sunshine during the time of year when there usually isn’t much.

IMG_0902

I just love a good picnic.  Doesn’t everybody?

Easter Egg Hunt at Grandma’s House

My lawn was perfect for an Easter Egg hunt because it had grown so much from the Spring rains that you could not see the eggs in the lawn until you were practically on them.

IMG_0886

It took them quite a while to find all the eggs we had put out . . .

IMG_0892

. . . but they did!

IMG_0893

Then the eating began.

Abby’s End of School Year Program

Abby’s  preschool had a program on the morning of her graduation.

IMG_1036

They had been learning songs and skits all year long so they compiled some of them for the program.

IMG_1037

It’s always fun to watch the kids perform and see the funny little things some of them do while on stage.

IMG_1041

IMG_1045

They all had the motions down pretty good.

IMG_1046

Some were funny with cute expressions.

IMG_1047

The whole crew was there.  It’s great that Dustin works so close to where the kids go to school.

IMG_1050

After the program we went to Abby’s classroom.

IMG_1051

Her teachers Miss Jean (left) and Miss Tracy (right with pink top)) passed out scrapbooks to each child of the things they did this year in their class.  The book is amazing, a treasure for sure.  Afterwards we went outside to the covered play area for lunch with hotdogs, chili, slaw, chips and cookies.  A nice ending to the program.

Abby’s Preschool Graduation

Abby getting ready to go in and get her cap and gown.

IMG_1055

Abby’s class did a song with all the motions.  As you can see Abby really got into it.

IMG_1060

At her end of the school year program last year she wouldn’t participate at all.

IMG_1061

In September she will go to kindergarten at Welcome Elementary School in Welcome.  It’s  about 2 miles from the house, and 2 blocks from RCR where Dustin works.

IMG_1063

She’s not shy at all.

IMG_1065

She has loved Miss Jean and Miss Tracy her teachers.  She has had them for her 3 year old class and 4 year old class.  Davis and Jackson will have them as their 4 year old teachers this fall.  They are great!

IMG_1069

Watching the other classes graduate.

HAPPY GRADUATION ABBY!!!
