Preschool Christmas Program 12/18/13

I always love kids programs, you never know what you’re going to get.

Davis and Mr. Brian his teacher.  He’s such a great teacher and perfect for Davis and Jackson.  He’s so good with them.  Here he’s trying to reassure Davis that it’s okay to wear a halo on his head.

Abby with her class waiting for their turn to do their performance.  She’s a cow and loves it.  Last year she wouldn’t sing or do anything, but this year she was full out.IMG_0555

The next few are just shots here and there while they are watching the other classes do their performances.

Reindeer Feeding Crew 12/24/13

Once again we had to feed the reindeers so that they would be able to go all night delivering all those toys.

Okay Jackson down in front!  Last year Jackson had nothing to do with feeding the reindeer, he just wasn’t interested.
IMG_0606
Davis takes it very seriously.  He had to dump it just right.
IMG_0607
They added a few carrots like last year because the reindeer ate them, as they did this year.

I heard tell that Santa was in for a real treat this year with an Advocare Pumpkin Spice Energy Bar on the plate and a Spark.

Uncle Tommy’s 90th Birthday 12-7-13

In the last few years my Uncle Tommy has orchestrated his own birthday which included a weekend of events with many members of my mother’s family.  They’ve been to Gettysburg, Harper’s Ferry, and  Annapolis Naval Academy.  He’s a history buff and this year it was Norfolk, Va.  He wanted to go back to his roots where he and my mother grew up.  So I joined them.

IMG_0344

We all stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott’s in  Downtown Norfolk.

IMG_0345

The Bistro and the lobby are the two places we hung out in-between events.

Here he is in all his glory!

IMG_0382

Here we are ready for our 5-hour bus ride around Norfolk!

IMG_0386

First we received sailors hats with our names on them in the front and the date on the back.  Next came our own box of Cracker Jack.  Hmmmm Navy theme.  Norfolk, a longtime Navy town.   Then came the quiz, what’s the dog’s name?

IMG_0667

We were given a booklet with all the information regarding the sights we would see and some stories of Uncle Tommy’s.  That was a handy little book.

IMG_0409

The old and new Cape Henry Lighthouses.  The “first landing” site is located on Cape Henry.

Uncle Tommy is presenting a picture to the docent of the old lighthouse sketched in 1925 by his Late Uncle, Raymond Creekmore, a noted artist, author, and sailboat designer.

Jay, my  cousin, his 2 daughters and Lorene’s granddaughter waiting for Uncle Tommy to tell his story at the Oceanview Library and Museum.

IMG_0435

The library was having a celebration for anyone 90 years or older that had lived in Oceanview, Va.  They were invited to tell a story so Uncle Tommy told the story about him being one of the famous barefoot boys.  The local newspaper was there and they did an article on Uncle Tommy in the paper.

We had dinner at the Free Mason Abbey restaurant in Downtown Norfolk.  The couple to the right is my cousin Donna and Her husband  George Medich. George used to pitch for the SF Giants and the Rangers.

Nash’s 1st Birthday Party ~ 11/23/13

We were invited to friends of Amber and Dustin’s little guys birthday party.  They rented the Children’s Museum in Winston-Salem after it closed from 5-7pm.  The kids were able to have the whole museum to themselves.  They loved it!  The gifts we brought were going to be donated to the Ronald McDonald House in Winston, that’s why they’re not wrapped and you see a doll.

IMG_0233

The theme was planes.  Abby is painting a plane, I think she ended up painting 3 of them.

IMG_0234

Davis after he painted his plane.

IMG_0244

This is the table where all the little ones sat and ate, and there were about a dozen of them.

IMG_0209

It’s fun to watch these two.

IMG_0225

Meatballs, pretzels with artichoke dip, potato salad, macaroni salad, deviled eggs, chicken salad on croissants, nachos and all the fixings for burritos.

IMG_0217

Yum!  The dessert table.  Popcorn, mini cupcakes, lemon cookies, 4 glass jars with candy and snacks, cookie fudge brownie bar, whoopie pies, cake pops, and an airplane cake.
