Oak Island NC Beach Trip ~ 6-3-14

We were given the opportunity to use a friends’ family beach house on Oak Island NC for 4 days so we gladly and gratefully took it.

There was a big deck all across the back with a great ocean view.

This is the back of the house from the beach.

Kids getting decked out for the beach.

The house came with most everything needed including beach toys.

The weather was great.  We would go out at about 9:30am and stay out there until noon, then come in for lunch and then go out in the evening.

It was very relaxing.

The kids played in and out of the water all morning.

They didn’t remember when we went before so this was their first time to really experience the ocean.

As they sat there and the waves came in they kept sinking further and further down into the sand.

Dinner the first night at a pizza place 2 blocks from the house that was awesome. IMG_1283

The path from the beach.

The next day they started building this castle with a moat.

Again sitting there letting the waves wash over them and causing them to sink.

We took a drive-on ferry over to another island to visit an aquarium.  We have a membership with the NC Zoological Society that allows us to get into many different Zoo’s and Aquariums around the country.

We got out of the car and went up to the top deck of the ferry for a better view on the way over.

It’s a very nice aquarium.

Silly pictures!

They had 3 divers in this tank.  One had a microphone and was explaining things about the fish and answering peoples questions.

It was a very nice getaway!

Sounds fun but I bet the sand got in everything.

The sand wasn't too much of a problem. It didn't stick to you like some sand does. The house had a hose on the landing at the top of the stairs before you go onto the deck so as the kids came up we took off their suits and hosed them down.
